The Pirates’ off-season began with the announcement that Donnie Kelly would be back as manager and Ben Cherington as general manager. Yesterday, they announced that pitching coach Oscar Marin will not return, nor will third base coach Mike Rabelo. Marin and Rabelo had both been with the team since the 2020 season. After one season with the team, assistant pitching coach Brent Strom is retiring.
Nothing has been announced on whether or not veteran Gene Lamont will be back. He rejoined the Pirates to essentially fill Kelly’s role as bench coach shortly after Kelly was made manager in May.
