At least one person was injured and had to be extricated from a vehicle this morning in an accident at the intersection of Route 85 and Route 954 in Beyer, in South Mahoning Township.
Police have not issued a release yet. A firefighter related that an eastbound vehicle on 85 was waiting to turn left onto 954 when a vehicle behind it, a pickup hauling a fifth wheel trailer, could not get stopped in time. The driver of the pickup braked hard and the trailer swung around into the opposite lane. Seeing the truck coming, the driver of the waiting vehicle quickly turned onto 954, but the trailer struck a westbound vehicle that was already stopped. Firefighters popped open the driver’s side door on the struck vehicle to give medics access to the injured driver.
Plumville and Rural Valley firefighters responded along with Citizens Ambulance.
