A former corrections officer at SCI Forest is facing charges for allegedly assaulting two new recruits in hazing incidents.
Garrett Smead, 29, of Warren, was charged with multiple misdemeanors, including indecent assault, unlawful restraint, and indecent exposure, after investigators said he handcuffed the recruits, removed his clothing, and sexually assaulted them on May 21.
Attorney General Dave Sunday called the allegations “unacceptable,” adding that the case undermines public trust in law enforcement.
