Two more townships have announced burn bans amid the drought conditions.
Green and Center Township representatives announced their respective bans that are effective immediately. This means that all outside fires are prohibited unless it is in a completely enclosed container like an outdoor furnace. The Green Township burn ban will be in place for the next 30 days, while there is no word on when the Center Township burn ban will expire.
Montgomery and Grant Townships had previously announced burn bans, which will end in early- to mid-October.
People are reminded that whether or not a burn ban is in place, those responsible for brush fires could be forced to pay the costs associated with putting it out.
