A woman is facing charges after six children were discovered living in squalid conditions in Westmoreland County earlier this week. Police responded to a home in Irwin on Monday following reports from neighbors who saw the children outside “covered in filth.”
Officers obtained a search warrant and found garbage, rotting food, and animal waste throughout the home. Authorities also discovered neglected pets, including cats, dogs, and ferrets, as well as two deceased cats.
Marah Urch, the children’s mother, has been charged with multiple counts of child endangerment and animal cruelty.
