Christine Marie (Strayer) Valazak, 65, of Pine Township, died following an extended illness, Wednesday, June 7th, 2017 at St. Andrews Village, Indiana. Born June 28, 1951 in Johnstown, she was a daughter of Jerry Thomas Strayer and Kathryn (Piscuric) Strayer, Mineral Point.
She was a graduate of Central Cambria High School and the Conemaugh School of Nursing. Christine was a Registered Nurse at Conemaugh Memorial Hospital in Johnstown for nearly 25 years, retiring in 1999.
She enjoyed crocheting and doing needle work. Christine also enjoyed reading and watching old movies. She was a member of the Church of the Resurrection Heilwood where she was a former Eucharistic minister and member of the church council. She especially liked to be with her family and looked forward to visits with her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by her two children: Jason Matthew Valazak, Germantown, MD and Jennifer Marie Hoffman & husband, Kurtis, McMurray, PA. Her two grandchildren are: Kaylin and Riley Hoffman of McMurray. Christine is also survived by her brother, Jerry T. Strayer and wife Mary Ann, Lancaster.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph Edward Valazak, Jr. who died April 9, 1996.
