Ronald Edward Vilcek, 69, of Indiana, PA, was called home to the Lord on Monday, June 5, 2017. Born on February 19, 1948, he was the son of Gusty and Rose (Rura) Vilcek of Coral, PA and a 1966 graduate of Laura Lamar High School. He also attended The Electronic Institute of Pittsburgh. Ron was a lifelong member of Our Lady of the Assumption Parish and a member of the First Catholic Slovak Union (Jednota) Branch #484.
Ron worked at Robert Shaw Controls in Indiana and New Stanton for many years.
He will be remembered most for his devotion to his Catholic faith, his distinct sense of humor, and love of family, especially his nieces and nephews who he often spoiled with presents and treats.
He is survived by the following siblings: John Vilcek (wife Maureen) of Blairsville, PA; Marilyn Sabota (husband George “Corky”) of Bradenville, PA; Marianna Reed of Blairsville, PA; Rosemary Perry (husband Fred) of Coral, PA; Patricia Greenwald (husband Dave) of Tollesboro, KY; Tracy Galasso (husband Frank) of Blairsville, PA; and sister-in-law Lisa Vilcek, wife of the late Goose Vilcek. He is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and cousins, all of whom he loved dearly.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother August “Goose” Vilcek and brother-in-law John “JR” Reed.
Friends will be received Wednesday, from 3-7 PM at the C. Frederick Bowser Funeral Home, Homer City. A Blessing service will be held Thursday at 9:30 AM at the funeral home followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10AM at Our Lady of the Assumption Parish, Coral Site. Interment to follow in the St. Francis Cemetery, Coral, PA.

The America250 celebration is coming up. Are you doing anything special?
Yes! Can't wait for the Friday night parade and Saturday's YMCA Star Spangled Celebration at Mack Park!
We'll do our typical picnic and sparklers thing!
We're traveling to some great U.S. historical sites, such as Philadelphia or Washington, D.C.
Nothing special. Just a typical weekend at our house.
