The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection will hold a hearing tonight concerning Homer City Redevelopment’s plan to build a natural gas-fueled power plant in Center Township.
Tonight’s meeting concerns the air quality plan that was recently given provisional approval by the DEP. The facility at the site of the old Homer City Generating Station will provide power for on-site AI Data Centers and is expected to emit 60% less greenhouse gases than the coal-powered generator.
The meeting starts at 6:00 at the KCAC with a back-and-forth dialogue between the public and representatives with Homer City Redevelopment and the DEP. That will go until 7:30 or when the public runs out of questions. At that point, a formal public hearing will begin, and citizens can present official testimony to go on the record.
Those who want to submit testimony should call Elspeth Koehle with the DEP at 814-332-6101 or by sending her an email.
