Forget last week, when the Altoona Curve lost five out of six games in Erie. Last night, they put up a seven-run sixth inning to overcome the SeaWolves 11-5 and take a 1-0 lead in the best-of-three Southwest Division playoffs.
Esmerlyn Valdez drove in five runs with a solo home run, a two-run single, and a two-run double. Konnor Griffin had three hits and a walk, including an infield single that Erie misplayed into a three-run error, and Nick Cimillo, Termarr Johnson, and Tres Gonzalez all had two hits for the Curve.
The series resumes at Erie tomorrow with right-hander Antwone Kelly scheduled to start for the Curve.
