The National Weather Service confirmed that an EF2 tornado touched down on Thursday in the Northeast Corner of Armstrong County.
A system triggering strong storms came through portions of Armstrong, Northern Indiana and Southern Jefferson Counties around midday on Thursday, triggering Tornado Warnings in those areas. On Friday, National Weather Service investigators made their way to Wayne Township in Armstrong County to investigate the damage. It was reported that the storms destroyed a barn and damaged a home with some uprooted trees.
Officials said that the tornado touched down at 11:47 AM on Thursday, with a path that ran for nine miles and an estimated peak wind speed of 120 miles an hour.
