Jean Bennett McCormick, 82, of Ormond Beach, FL., formerly of Linthicum Heights, MD., passed away Thursday, March 16, 2017 at UNC Rex Hospital in Raleigh, NC.
Born May 6, 1934, she was the daughter of the late Harry A. and Mildred Empfield Bennett, of Penn Run.
Mrs. McCormick graduated from Indiana High School in 1952 and worked at various positions throughout her lifetime. She was an active member of her local church, board member of the community council, and participant of many social activities including, ballroom dancing, golf, playing cards, dominos, and various volunteer works.
She will be missed dearly by her four sons: Bruce R. McCormick and wife Susan, of Bel Alton, MD; Brian T. McCormick and wife Darlene, of Westminster, MD; Robert C. McCormick and wife Michele, of Charlotte, NC; and David W. McCormick and wife Laura, of Apex, NC; five brothers and sisters: Verla Mae Anderson, of Houston, TX; Alex William Bennett, of Beaver Creek, OH; Harry Abraham Bennett, of Dayton, OH; Mildred Estella Forrest, of Rehoboth, DE; and Vivian Marie Forrest, of Boston, MA; eight grandchildren: John, Kelly, Daniel, Kevin, Andrew, Meagan, Gunnar and Lily Grace; three great-grandchildren: Ayva, Lexi and Laila; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband of 48 years, Thomas C. McCormick, of Linthicum Heights, MD.; and two brothers: Robert R. Bennett, of Dayton, OH; and Elmer G. Bennett, Huntsburg, OH.
Friends will be received from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. Saturday, May 6 at Robinson-Lytle, Inc. A funeral service will follow immediately after visitation with Bill Phipps officiating. Interment will be in Greenwood Cemetery.
