An Indiana man was sentenced yesterday for his role in a robbery in 2022.
Court documents showed that 23-year-old Jamie White, Jr., was scheduled to have a non-jury trial today, but entered pleas to charges of robbery and possession of a weapon. Other charges, including a second count of robbery, simple assault and theft were not prosecuted. Indiana Borough Police said at 1:00 in the morning on September 8th of 2022, he approached a woman in the area of South 7th Street and Gompers Avenue demanding cash from her. He reportedly had a knife at the time. Police said he made off with an undisclosed amount of money, and the victim was not hurt. Tips from the public lead to his arrest. He was declared incompetent to stand trial in February of 2023, but in July of that same year, he was declared fit to assist in his own defense.
For the robbery charge, he was ordered to serve 11 and a half months to a day less than two years in Indiana County Jail along with five years of probation. For the weapon charge, he will serve an additional five-year probation term.
