While IUP is celebrating its 150th anniversary this year, another university entity is celebrating its own milestone
The IUP Police Academy will hold a 50th anniversary open house on September 27th from 2-5 PM at their headquarters at the Robertshaw building. Visitors will be able to tour the facility, meet the staff and take part in virtual reality demonstrations.
Over the last 50 years, IUP’s Police Academy has trained over 5,000 cadets. The academy is certified by the Municipal Police Officers’ Education and Training Commission to provide the coaching and education needed to certify individuals as municipal police officers in Pennsylvania. Several other programs are offered to meet the needs of police and other first responders.
The event is free and open to the public.
