The Community Endowment of Indiana Borough is the first of four recipients of the Community Foundation for the Alleghenies “Small Town Challenge” award.
The competition was for municipalities in Cambria and Indiana Counties that challenged small towns to establish endowments. It was created by Foundation Board Member Bob Eyer, who said he wanted to see local communities invest in themselves.
Indiana is one of four towns to receive a $25,000 grant. The borough now has two years to match that money with new awards to the endowment. Grantmaking can begin one year from the date the match is set.
The Indiana Borough committee has a goal to support transportation needs and local businesses along with enhancing connections to the IUP campus.
