On Tuesday, the Evergreen After School Club announced the results of the Kiss-A-Pig fundraiser.
The annual summer-long event challenges participants to raise as much money as possible, with the winner receiving the honor of kissing a pig in front of the grandstand crowd at the Indiana County Fair. This year’s edition raised over $26,000 for the group, and Denise Jennings with the club said that it was an impressive total considering the fact that they only had four participants this year with Jenn Van Wieren, Dr. Tony Dellafiora, Nick Karas and the eventual winner, Nick Moore.
She added that some federal grant money that is used to run the program is going away, fundraising is becoming more important than ever.
