PEDESTRIAN BRIDGE WORK TO FORCE OVERNIGHT CLOSURE OF PART OF ROUTE 22

Work on the Pedestrian Bridge over Route 22 in Burrell Township will pick up next Thursday.

PennDOT is announcing a two-way closure of the highway between the Route 119 and Route 217 interchanges at 10:00 PM on September 4^th going to 6:00 the next morning.  This will allow bridge girders to be installed.  Drivers will use Walnut Street and Old William Penn Highway in Blairsville to the Route 119 interchange ramps as a detour during the closure.

There will still be access to businesses in that corridor during the closure, with flaggers controlling traffic at various intersections.

A rain date of September 8^th and 9^th is set if the weather does not cooperate.  Contractors Merlo, Incorporated of Mineral Point will complete the $4.7 million project by mid-June of 2026.
