Pauline (Frantz) Getty, 98, of Hillsdale, PA died Tuesday, April 4, 2017 at Live Well Country Estates in Hillsdale, PA. For the past six years, she has been lovingly cared for at Live Well Country Estates.
Known as Polly to her many friends, she was born June 11, 1918 near the village of Arcadia, PA.
Her parents were George and Mary (Klapak) Frantz (originally Ference) of Arcadia, who were immigrants from Czechoslovakia.
Pauline was a graduate of Montgomery Twp. High School and a lifelong resident of Montgomery Twp.
She was married to John “Jack” R. Getty from July 1, 1939 until his death on June 30, 2005, when he passed away one day before their sixty-sixth wedding anniversary. John worked in the coal mines of western Pennsylvania.
Pauline and John had one son, Donald “Dick” Richard Getty. Dick was a graduate of Penn State and a computer engineer. He passed away on March 11, 2011.
Pauline was always a wonderful homemaker. She played piano and taught Sunday school at the United Methodist Church in Hillsdale for many years. Pauline then joined the Purchase Line United Methodist Church, when the Hillsdale church combined with other churches to form a new congregation.
For a time, she worked in a shoe factory during World War II.
Some words of wisdom from Pauline just a few weeks ago, “Life is a journey we are all on together, and you never know how things will turn out until the end.” She credited her long life to her belief in God, having a positive attitude and keeping a sense of humor.
Pauline is survived by her granddaughter, Pamela Evasic and husband John and their daughter Renee and her grandson, Arnold Getty, his wife Mishelle and their daughter Devin and son Logan, all of Huntington Beach, CA.
In addition to her parents; husband and son, Pauline was preceded in death by her two brothers, Joe and Gerald Frantz.
Family and friends will be received from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday, April 11, 2017 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA, where an 11:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017. Pastor Raymond Hill will officiate. Interment will follow at the Thompson Cemetery in Hillsdale, PA.
