A Salem Township home was destroyed by arson Friday afternoon near Routes 119 and 22.
Fire crews from Westmoreland and Indiana counties battled the blaze, but the duplex was declared a total loss. The property once housed 54-year-old James Sever, who police say planted a pipe bomb on his former landlord’s riding mower in July. The landlord escaped injury, but the explosion destroyed the mower and damaged a garage. State police have not named Sever as a suspect in the fire but continue searching for him in Salem and Derry townships.
Sever is 6 feet tall, about 170 pounds, and may be riding an E-bike.
