Steven J. Zendek, Jr., 70, of Indiana, passed away Tuesday, March 28, 2017, at his residence.
A son of the late Steven J. Zendek, Sr. and Frances (Tranmonta) Zendek, he was born Dec. 7, 1946, in Indiana.
Mr. Zendek was a graduate of Laura Lamar High School and was retired from R&P Coal Company and also S&T Bank. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he had been an usher and had played on the church softball team. Mr. Zendek volunteered his time driving for the Bread Table at the Chevy Chase Community Center. He was an avid sports fan, but he really enjoyed the Penguins, Steelers and Pirates. He also enjoyed coaching little league, traveling, camping, bowling, line dancing, working on the fish pond and relaxing on the front porch.
Mr. Zendek is survived by his wife of 48 years, Joanne (King) Zendek, of Indiana; and a son, Martin T. Zendek, of Maui, HI. He was blessed with one niece and five nephews, that he enjoyed spending time with, and his beloved cocker spaniel, Sam.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, Steven “Skip” Zendek III.
Friends will be received from 1:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. Sunday at Robinson-Lytle, Inc., with the Rev. Bill Blair officiating.
