IUP first-year and new students moved in over the weekend and today marks the start of Welcome Week at the university.
Welcome Week will offer events for students that are a mix of academic meetings, informational programming and opportunities for students to get acquainted with the campus, the surrounding community and each other. A university welcome event is set for today at 3:30 PM at Fisher Auditorium, followed by a community dinner in the Oak Grove. On Thursday, IUP will host the Talon Walk through Downtown Indiana to help familiarize students with businesses, especially those taking part in the Talon Ticket program. This will be part of Downtown Indiana’s “Third Thursday” activities. On Friday, the university will hold its traditional Opening of the Academic Year program at 9:00 AM at Fisher Auditorium.
The week wraps up with the Crimson Carnival Block Party Saturday at the KCAC from 1-4 for students, followed by the 150th Anniversary carnival event at the KCAC’s Parking Lot, with fireworks at 9:00 PM. A “Friends and Family” concert for the IUP Marching Band will be held at Miller Stadium at 5:45 PM.
