ROBERT MURRAY, SR., 72

Robert Elias Murray, Sr., 72, of East Run, PA died Friday, March 17, 2017 at his home.
The son of Robert Elias Murray and Louise (Helmick) Murray Konkus, he was born on Mary 27, 1944 in Carmichaels, PA.
Bob was a graduate of Carmichaels High School.
He loved spending time outdoors fishing and hunting, as well as gardening and doing yardwork.
One of his favorite pastimes was playing with his grandchildren.
Employed over the years with both R. G. Johnson and Williamson, he worked on constructing the airshafts and slopes in underground deep coal mines. Bob worked locally at the Greenwich Colleries; Tanoma and Nicktown mines, even having served in the position of Superintendent overseeing projects.
Bob married Marjorie L. (Chambers) Murray on February 18, 1978.
He is survived by his wife of thirty-nine years, Marjorie of East Run, PA; his four children: Mary LaPierre and husband Ben; Robert Murray and wife Susan; Heather Murray and Paul Murray and wife Jennifer; a number of grandchildren including: Cyrus Murray; Maggie Murray; Jacob Murray; Grace Snyder and Lucas Murray; a number of great grandchildren and his extended family member, John Meyer and wife Miranda.
Bob is also survived by his five siblings: John Konkus and wife Jean; Jackie Santini and husband, Rick; Jennifer Gutierrez and husband Carlos; Juliet Drayovitch and Pat Pupello and husband Larry.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his grandson, Michael Murray.
Family and friends will be received from 2-4:00 p.m. and 6-9:00 p.m. on Friday, March 24, 2017 at the Rairigh Funeral Home, Ltd. in Hillsdale, PA. A 10:00 a.m. funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 25, 2017 at the East Mahoning Baptist Church in Purchase Line, PA with Rev. James Pearson officiating. Interment will follow at the Cookport Methodist Cemetery in Cookport, PA.
