Indiana University of Pennsylvania has received a $25,000 gift toward its proposed College of Osteopathic Medicine.
The donation comes from Dr. John “Jack” and Linda Brose of Athens, Ohio. Dr. Brose, a nationally recognized leader in medical education, is already serving as a consultant and mentor for IUP’s initiative. His gift will help establish scholarships for future students. Dr. Miko Rose, founding dean of the proposed college, praised Brose’s continued dedication, calling him “irreplaceable” in efforts to launch the school. With the Broses’ contribution, IUP has now secured more than $34 million in public and private support for the project. Once established, IUP’s college would be the only public osteopathic medical school in Pennsylvania, aiming to tackle rural healthcare shortages, especially in mental health and primary care.
The university is currently in the multi-year accreditation process through the American Osteopathic Association.
