Tonight is the annual National Night Out in IRMC Park.
The event is sponsored by the Indiana Borough Police, and features members of local law enforcement and emergency personnel, as well as a bounce house and scavenger hunt.
National Night Out is a nation-wide community-building campaign held on the first Tuesday of August. It aims to foster stronger police-community partnerships and enhance neighborhood camaraderie by encouraging residents to spend time with neighbors, law enforcement, and other first responders. The event promotes a sense of unity and safety by bringing people together under positive circumstances.
In an interview on Indiana in the Morning, Indiana Borough Police Chief Justin Schawl believes that events like these can help ease anxiety surrounding first responders.
The event will be held at IRMC Park tonight from 5-7 pm, and is completely free of charge.
