A man involved in a police incident in Ligonier Township on Saturday died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.
A spokesperson for the Westmoreland County District Attorney’s office said that Ligonier Valley Police were trying to pull over a man at 5:00 PM near Route 30 and Baywood Road when they heard gunshots. Officers called Westmoreland County Detectives to the scene and found the suspect was dead. No shots were fired towards police, and responding officers did not fire at the victim.
The victim’s identity and why he was being pulled over was not released. No other information was released.
