The Altoona Curve broke their six-game losing streak Saturday night, downing Binghampton 4-1. Reliever Blake Townsend continued his fine season, lowering his ERA to 1.23 with three-and-a-third innings of scoreless relief in a bullpen game.
The Curve has never led in the series before a second-inning two-run double by Aaron McKeithan. Maikol Escotto followed that up two innings later with a two-run home-run.
On the mound, Valentin Linarez opened and gave up a run in 1.2 innings before Townsend came on. Justin Meis relieved Townsend and threw two scoreless innings. Ryan Harbin and Wilkin Ramos then tossed the final two shutout innings. Altoona pitchers struck out eleven batters.
Po-Yu Chen starts for the Curve in the series finale this afternoon.
