Homer City Post 493 closed the regular season with a split of a doubleheader with Murrysville, winning the first game 2-1 and losing in the nightcap, 8-5.
Connor James went all the way in the first game, scattering seven hits and walking just one, while striking out six. James also doubled for one of Post 493’s four hits. Braden Dunn and Dom Shimko singled and Noah Turk singled and drove in a run. Murrysville scored first, with a run in the fourth inning, but the Bearcats struck for two in the sixth. Murrysville committed three errors while Homer City was clean in the field.
In the second game, Homer City took a 3-0 lead in the first inning, but Murrysville chipped away, scoring in five of their six innings at the plate to come away with the 8-5 win. Shimko and Jon Cribbs each had two hits for Post 493.
Homer City is 9-9. Senior Legion playoff matchups will be announced on Sunday.
