The Penguins have acquired defenseman Nathan Beaulieu from Winnipeg in exchange for a conditional seventh-round draft choice.
Beaulieu is currently on long-term injured reserve with an undisclosed ailment. He last played on March 4th and has missed the Jets’ last eight games. He’s played only 24 games this season, with 21 lost due to medical reasons and 21 as a healthy scratch. He has no goals and four assists, and is a minus-7.
Beaulieu is in the final year of a two-year contract with a $1.25 million salary cap hit and will be an unrestricted free agent after this season. He was a first-round draft choice of Montreal in 2011 and has also played for Buffalo.
