Bryan Reynolds started the game but was pulled in the first inning when his wife went into labor back in Pittsburgh. He will miss the rest of the series in Detroit and be put on the paternity list, allowing the Pirates to call up someone from Indianapolis.
Catcher Joey Bart was activated from the seven-day concussion list for last night’s game and was 0-for-3.
Game two of the series is tonight at Comerica Park. Pirates’ lefthander Andrew Heaney [3-5, 3.33 ERA] faces Tigers’ Cy Young Award winner Tarik Skubal [7-2, 1.99 ERA]. Airtime is 6:15, first pitch at 6:40 on WCCS.

Konnor Griffin’s minor league hitting streak is at thirteen games after he went 1-for-4 with a walk in a 6-3 Greensboro win last night over Greenville. Griffin has at least one hit in each of his first seven games at High-A, after collecting hits in his last six games at Low-A Bradenton.

Altoona was rained out last night and will start their series against Richmond tonight at PNG Field, with Wilbur Dotel on the mound.
