The Pirates open their exhibition season this afternoon against the Yankees at LECOM Park in Bradenton. Manager Derek Shelton said yesterday that Wil Crowe will be his starter and will be followed to the mound by roster hopefuls Jerad Eickhoff and Kyle Nicolas. After that, expect a mix of minor leaguer pitchers. Game time is 1:05, and you’ll hear the game starting at 1:00 on WCCS, FM 101.1 and AM 1160.
Shelton also said Mitch Keller will start tomorrow’s game against the Tigers.
First baseman/designated hitter Yoshi Tsutsugo is in Pirates training camp after having been delayed in his native Japan. Former Bucco first baseman Colin Moran signed with the Reds yesterday. He’s now “Redbeard the Red.”
