The District 6 baseball and softball playoffs are heading toward championship games next week, and one Heritage Conference team has already advanced.
West Shamokin’s girls yesterday won a semifinal game that was moved up a day, scoring five runs in both the third and fourth innings to eliminate West Branch, 11-5. Zoe Bennett homered and drove in four runs, and Malena Stewart and Madi Keirn each had two hits for the Wolves, who will play the winner of today’s game between top seed Southern Huntingdon and Bellwood Antis for the championship next Thursday.
Marion Center’s girls have a AAA semifinal at Bald Eagle Area today, and Purchase Line will play a Class A semifinal this afternoon at Claysburg-Kimmel.
The Class A baseball semifinals tomorrow will feature two games on Renda Digital TV. Homer-Center is scheduled to host Blacklick Valley at First Commonwealth Bank Field at one o’clock. And Northern Cambria’s game against Juniata Valley has been moved to the turf field at Central Cambria, and will be played at four o’clock.
