Emergency crews and plow drivers have been awfully busy since last night, when the snowstorm started. By 4 AM, Indiana County had officially registered eight inches of snow, according to the National Weather Service – that was in Black Lick, with Indiana measuring six inches – and the plows have been working on main highways, with secondary roads to follow.
Several accidents involving multiple vehicles have been reported on Route 156 in the Shelocta area, forcing that road to close at Route 422, and at Route 56 on the other side of the wrecks. As of 7:00 AM, PA 511 has noted that traffic is once again moving in that area, but traffic is heavy in areas. There was another accident reported at 3:46 this morning on Old Route 56 in Center Township, with Homer City firefighters responding.
Utility lines have been reported as well. Aultman firefighters were called out at 1:43 AM to Route 286 at Bethel Church Road in Center Township and again at 3:48 to Cunkelman Road in Blacklick Township.
And firefighters from Plumville, Marion Center, Clymer, and Rural Valley responded last evening to a structure fire on Sinktown Road in South Mahoning Road.
