The Steelers were quite active on the first day of the NFL’s legal tampering period.
The Steelers came to agreement on a two-year contract with quarterback Mitch Trubisky, the former number two overall NFL selection in the 2017 NFL draft. The very mobile Trubisky was the backup last season in Buffalo after three seasons in Chicago, where he was 29-21 as a starter with 64 touchdown passes and 38 interceptions. He was considered one of the top quarterbacks available, either in the draft or as a free agent.
The Steelers also reportedly came to a three-year contract agreement with former Vikings center/guard Mason Cole. He was Arizona’s third-round pick in 2018 and played center for them for three years. He switched to guard partway through last season with Minnesota. Cole has started 39 games in his 60-game NFL career.
The signings of Trubisky and Cole cannot become official until the official start of free agency tomorrow.
The Steelers also announced yesterday that they have re-signed starting right tackle Chuks Okorafor, for $29.25 million over three years
