The new REAL ID requirements are set to begin on Wednesday, and today, PennDOT will open driver’s license centers to help people upgrade their licenses.
Indiana’s office in the Indiana Mall will open from 8:30 to 4:15 today like many others across the state to scan documents and apply for a REAL ID license or ID card. At the Indiana location, a temporary REAL ID will be provided for you to carry along with your driver’s license until the new one is sent to you within 15 business days. To get the REAL ID upgrade, you need one document proving identity and lawful status, one proving a social security number, two documents proving Pennsylvania Residency and if necessary, any documents showing a legal name change.
REAL ID-compliant cards will allow people to board a commercial airline flight, enter a government building that requires a photo ID and entering a military base.
