On top of the calls to get trees and power lines to safe places, firefighters were called out to a fire at an apartment complex on Rustic Lodge Road.
Indiana Fire Association members were sent to the Tanglewood Apartments on Rustic Lodge Road around 7:00, and the apartment was fully involved by the time crews arrived. Assistant Fire Chief Bob Henry said that the fire started in the back of the apartment.
Henry added that crews were stretched thin as others were responding to storm-related calls.
Over seven fire companies sent crews to the scene, and firefighters were able to bring it under control within 10 minutes. The apartment was destroyed. No injuries were reported. The tenant is receiving assistance from the American Red Cross.
