The Pirates beat Colorado yesterday, 4-3, taking the three-game series with the Rockies. Adam Frazier had three hits and a rally-killing fielding play in the 8th inning, and Chris Archer earned his first Pirates victory. Corey Dickerson’s sacrifice fly in the top of the 8th scored Josh Bell to secure the win.
The Pirates activated first baseman Josh Bell from the 10-day disabled list and optioned Jose Osuna to Indianapolis. Bell was 0-for-4 with a walk and an RBI groundout in his return to the lineup.
The Pirates open up a four-game series against the Giants tonight in San Francisco. It’s the second series this year against former Pirate Andrew McCutchen. He’s hitting .261 with 12 home runs for the Giants. Ivan Nova will be on the mound for the Bucs. The Giants will counter with Andrew Suarez. The airtime on WCCS, AM 1160 and 101.1 FM, is 9:50.
