High school baseball and softball teams will have a tough time getting in their games this week with the weather working against them.
In baseball, Indiana is off to a 6-0 start overall and started the WPIAL Section schedule last week with two wins over Highlands. At 2-0, they lead 4A Section 2, with Derry 1-0 and everybody else all with at least one loss.
In the Heritage Conference, West Shamokin is 3-1 and Homer-Center 4-2 at the top of the West. Penns Manor is 2-2 and Marion Center and Purchase Line are 0-5, River Valley 0-6. In the East, Northern Cambria remains the conference’s only unbeaten team at 5-0. Cambria Heights and Conemaugh Valley are both 4-1, Conemaugh Township is 3-1, United is 2-2 and Portage is 2-3.
Checking softball, Indiana is 1-7 overall and 0-2 in their Section. Knoch, Derry, and Highlands are all 2-0 at the top of the Section.
The Heritage Conference softball standings continue to be dominated by the West, where Marion Center and West Shamokin are both 5-0, River Valley and Purchase Line are both 4-1, Homer-Center is 3-1, and Penns Manor, which got a late start due to the extended basketball playoffs, is 0-1.
The East is led by Cambria Heights, which is 3-2. Every other team is under .500, with Northern Cambria 2-3, Conemaugh Valley 1-4, and Conemaugh Township, United, and Portage all winless, with a combined record of 0-14. United and Portage are both 0-5 and Township is 0-4.
