The Penguins had the day off yesterday to travel to St. Louis for tomorrow night’s game against the Blues. As expected, forward Emil Bemstrom cleared waivers and can be assigned to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, but the team did not announce whether he would be sent down or outright released. By rule, any team that would have claimed Bemstrom could not have used him at the NHL level because it is past the trade deadline.
