The Heritage Conference baseball season is off and running with the teams in the East seeming to have the edge so far. Northern Cambria leads the entire conference with a 4-0 record. All six teams in the East are at .500 or better, with Cambria Heights and Conemaugh Valley at 3-1, Conemaugh Township 2-0, United 2-1, and Portage 2-2. The West is off to a slower start. West Shamokin is 2-2 and Homer-Center is 2-2. The other four teams are a combined 1-13. Conemaugh Township and Conemaugh Valley play each other back-to-back on Tuesday and Thursday.
On the softball fields, the Heritage Conference West has started hot, with four teams entering this week undefeated. Marion Center, Purchase Line, River Valley, and West Shamokin are all 4-0. Purchase Line and West Shamokin play back-to-back games against each other on Tuesday and Thursday. Those four stellar records offset the struggling Heritage East, where the six teams enter the week a combined 1-18.
