It was the final chance for Sidney Crosby, Evgeni Malkin, and Kris Letang to share the ice with Marc-Andre Fleury yesterday, and the Penguins got the best of their former teammate. Paul Steigerwald has the story.
Coach Mike Sullivan was excited that Tristan Jarry got the win. Jarry made thirty saves and just missed a shutout when the officials failed to call an interference penalty late in the third period, giving the Wild a 4-on-1 break.
Sidney Crosby said he will happily remind Fleury that he scored on him in their final game against each other.
Fleury will fondly recall his years with the legendary Penguins Crosby, Malkin, and Letang, but wishes he’d stopped them yesterday.
The Penguins lost newly-acquired forward Tommy Novak in the third period to an undisclosed injury.
The team also announced the signing of 2024 fourth round draft choice Chase Pietila to a three-year entry level contract. The defenseman played college hockey the last two seasons at Michigan Tech. His brother Logan is playing with the Penguins’ Wheeling Nailers ECHL affiliate.
Next up for the Pens: five straight home games, starting with Vegas tomorrow night at PPG Paints Arena.
