Homer City Borough Council once again discussed the proposed County Emergency Management Service Authority at last night’s meeting.
County Commissioner Mike Keith was invited to the meeting to give council more information on the authority. Council once again tabled a motion to advertise the ordinance to join it, but it will be discussed at future meetings. Last night, Danny Sacco was named as a liaison to represent the borough on the authority.
Council also approved a tentative paving schedule for 2025, which will involve rebuilding Miller Avenue from Main Street to Greeley and a portion of Church Street from 119 to Wiley Street. Those projects will involve milling and repaving. They are also looking at Ellsworth Avenue for surface treatment. The schedule is tentative based on the cost of work and materials. Borough Manager Rob Nymick said that due to the strong winter season, they have had to dip into the liquid fuels funds to purchase more salt and anti-skid for the road
He said that while the spring will bring a bit of relief, that’s usually when they start patching potholes and fixing water breaks. Nymick said that the next month will be crucial for how they proceed for the rest of the year.
