The IUP basketball teams are both in action tonight as the PSAC playoffs begin. The women are home to host Cal U. The men visit Slippery Rock.
Coach Craig Carey’s number four women’s team finished the regular season with a 20-6 record while fifth-seeded Cal was 16-11, but IUP lost to Cal both times they played, 77-63 in January and 69-62 last week. Carey says IUP has to play its game.
Tonight’s winner plays at number one Edinboro on Wednesday. Tipoff tonight at the KCAC is at 6 o’clock. We’re on the air on WCCS at 5:45.
The fifth-seeded IUP men tip off at 7 at four seed Slippery Rock, with pregame on 92.5 FM U92 at 6:45. IUP lost both of the games against Slippery Rock this year, 75-64 in January and 78-71 last month.
Coach Joe Lombardi says IUP was “in” every game against the PSAC playoff field.
