Jared Jones survived a rough first inning that featured a broken-bat leadoff double and nine straight pitches that missed the strike zone to go two-and-two-thirds innings in his second spring start as the Pirates lost to Detroit, 10-4 in Bradenton. Jones gave up one run on two hits and two walks with four strikeouts.
Henry Davis, Darick Hall, and Endy Rodriguez hit home runs for the Bucs.
After the game, the Pirates reassigned top prospects Konnor Griffin, Termarr Johnson, Anthony Solometo, and Jack Brannigan to minor league camp.
Bailey Falter starts for the Pirates in their first night game of the spring tonight, against the Yankees in Tampa. Newly-signed left-handed starter Andrew Heaney will make his spring debut tomorrow.
