After a few days off, the Penguins return to action tonight at PPG Paints Arena, welcoming the New Jersey Devils to town. Yesterday, the Pens recalled rookie winger Kasper Bjorkvist from Wilkes-Barre-Scranton. He’s played in six games in the NHL this season and scored a goal.
Teddy Blueger practiced again yesterday in a non-contact jersey. He’s been out with a broken jaw suffered January 23rd and his recovery timeline of six to eight weeks remains in place.
Coach Mike Sullivan yesterday talked about the shortcomings of his penalty killing unit without Blueger. He said the team has gotten way from some of its good habits, particularly 200-foot clears and allowing easy entry into their zone.
Sullivan also talked yesterday about goaltender Tristan Jarry’s increasingly obvious aggressiveness protecting his net, and said he likes it.
Pens/Devils tonight faces off shortly after 7 on 92.5 FM U92 and the U92 Sportschannel.
