Sidney Crosby was absent from Penguins practice yesterday, dealing with an upper body injury suffered when he was sandwiched between two New Jersey Devils on Tuesday night. Crosby was favoring his left arm after the collision and missed time but did return to the game.
If Crosby is unable to play tomorrow night against the Rangers, coach Mike Sullivan says it’s an opportunity for someone else to step up.
Crosby is being evaluated and Sullivan cautioned not to read too much into his situation until more is known about his condition. Center Evgeni Malkin skated again before practice and Sullivan said he remains “status quo.” Malkin has missed the last four games with a lower body injury.
Forward Jesse Puljujarvi was sent back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton yesterday.
