The Homer Center Wildcats ran their baseball record to 16-0 with a 12-0 win over Ligonier Valley yesterday.
Nate Davis picked up the win, while the offense was led by Dakota Sunday with three hits.
Homer Center, the No. 1-ranked team by MaxPreps in Class A, will host Serra Catholic, the No. 6 Class 2-A team at 18-1, today at First Commonwealth Bank Field in Homer City at 6:15 p.m.
Homer Center is also the No. 1 seed in the District 6 rankings and will host Bishop Carroll, the eighth seed, next Tuesday at 4 p.m.
In other games yesterday, Marion Center beat Northern Cambria, Saltsburg beat United and Armstrong topped Indiana, all by 11-1 scores.
On the softball side, Indiana beat Leechburg, 4-0, in a non-section game. Madison Barker went 3 for 4, while Sara Zimmerman was 2 for 4. Lauren Bertig struck out 10, walking none in picking up the victory.
Ligonier Valley bested Homer Center, 11-3; Derry beat Blairsville, 5-0, and West Shamokin downed Purchase Line, 12-2.
