The Pittsburgh Pirates are back on the winning track after a 6-4 win against the Milwaukee Brewers.
Nick Kingham wasn’t perfect, but he kept the Pirates in it for five and one-thirds innings, allowing four runs on six hits and two home runs, but he struck out seven in the process to pick up the win.
The Pirates got on the board early with a bases-loaded walk that scored Gregory Polanco in the first. Manny Pina of the Brewers hit a solo home run to left-center field to tie it up. Corey Dickerson would hit a two-run homer to give the Pirates a 3-1 lead in the third. In the 5th, Starling Marte hit an inside-the-park homer, driving in Gregory Polanco. The Brewers would try to come back with Jesus Aguilar hitting an RBI single to score Christian Yelich and a sac-fly from Dominigo Santana scored Aguilar. David Freese would get an insurance run on the board with a solo home run to end the scoring.
The Pirates and Brewers will play tonight at 6:45 on WCCS.
