Organizers with the Indiana County Decathlon are preparing to open their 9th year of activities on February 8th.
The decathlon promotes physical activity and healthy living during the winter and spring months by offering a series of free walking events from February to May. The difficulty ranges from easy walks or rolls on paved paths to moderate walks on marked trails. It’s part of the WalkWorks program, which is meant to strengthen a community through a network of trails and walking paths created with locals in mind. There are eight such WalkWorks trails in the county.
The first walk of the season will be February 8th at 10 AM at Blue Spruce Park, which will be a Hot Chocolate Walk. Other locations will include a Christmas Tree farm, White’s Woods, Yellow Creek State Park and other locations across the county.
A complete list of events can be found on the Indiana County Decathlon Facebook page. Those interested in sponsoring the Decathlon can call 724-465-3877.
