Fire crews were on the scene of a structure fire in Burrell Township this morning.
Indiana County 911 reports that Black Lick, Blairsville, Coral and Homer City fire departments along with Citizen’s Ambulance and the County HAZMAT team were called to a home in the 200 block of Main Street at 3:56 this morning. Coal Run fire department was initially dispatched for standby detail at the Black Lick fire department, but they would be called to the scene at 4:18 this morning. Clyde Fire Department would take over standby detail after that.
Josh Hutcheson with the Black Lick fire department said the fire started on the first floor of the house and spread quickly to the second floor. Main Street was closed as the water used to fight the fire has frozen on the roadway. Road crews from Burrell Township salted the area twice in efforts to open the road in time for school buses to roll by. Two people and their pets have been displaced. The Salvation Army has been called in to assist the family.
The cause of the fire remains unknown. State Police Fire Marshals will be on-scene today to investigate.
