The Penguins followed up their best game of the season, a 5-1 win over the LA Kings, with one of their worst performances, a 5-1 loss to Anaheim. Paul Steigerwald has the recap.
The loss of the game was compounded by the loss of forward Bryan Rust, who left the game at the 17:43 mark of the second period with an undisclosed injury. Forward Blake Lizotte missed the game due to illness, becoming the third Penguins player to be sidelined this week because he was sick.
Coach Mike Sullivan says you can’t win if you play like the Penguins did in the first period last night.
Goaltender Alex Ndeljkovic says the Penguins can’t expect to win hockey games with the effort they had last night.
The Penguins skate at Seattle tomorrow afternoon, facing off shortly after 4 o’clock. Because of an IUP basketball doubleheader against Clarion on 92.5 FM U92, you’ll hear the Penguins on WCCS, starting with the pregame at 3.

The U.S. Patent and Trademark Office has rejected the name “Yetis” for the Utah Hockey Club because of “the likelihood of confusion” with other companies which use the name “Yeti”, such as the cooler/cup company. The team still says it will have a new name before next season.
