The Penguins have escaped the icebox of the East Coast and are in Los Angeles tonight for the first of five games out west, taking on the LA Kings. They will play five games on the West Coast, the first four of them against Pacific Division opponents. The Pens are 6-3-1 against the Pacific Division this season, including a 3-2 overtime win over the Kings on December 17th.
Unfortunately for Coach Mike Sullivan’s Penguins, they are 3-8-3 in their own division, the Metro, after Saturday’s 4-1 loss to Washington.
Sullivan says the Pens did not play badly against the Caps, but they didn’t play well, either. He says they’re in the thick of the playoff chase and need to string wins together.
After playing the Kings tonight in their third game in four nights, the seven-game road trip continues for the Penguins with a visit to nearby Anaheim on Thursday, then Seattle on Saturday, San Jose next Monday, and Utah next Wednesday.
Faceoff tonight is shortly after 10:30. The pregame begins at 9:30 on 92.5 FM u92.
